Our story

Made for the screen hours

When the day's work follows you past sunset, the glow of a screen gets harsher the later it gets. Softlight glasses carry lenses that filter part of the blue light from displays, so the screen is a little warmer and gentler on the eyes as the evening wears on. The frames are light, well balanced and made to be worn for hours — clear, low-tint lenses for the day, and a warm amber tint for the deep evening. It is not a medical device and does not correct vision; it is a small comfort for the time we spend looking at screens.

How it's made

Each lens is cut and edged to the frame from acrylic or polycarbonate, then given a blue-light filtering coating that cuts a measured portion of the blue end of the spectrum. The frames are made from lightweight acetate or thin metal, assembled and adjusted by hand so they sit evenly and lightly on the face.

How to use it

Put them on whenever you are in front of a screen — work, scrolling, films. Choose the amber tint for the evening and the clearer lens for daytime. They are a comfort for screen time, not a medical device and not a substitute for prescribed vision correction.

Good to know

How do I care for them?

Wipe the lenses with the microfibre cloth and store them in the case when they are not worn. Keep them away from heat and from rough surfaces, and rinse with a little water before wiping if they are dusty.

Can I get them with a lens prescription?

The frames here come with our non-prescription filtered lenses. To combine a prescription with a blue-light filter, take a frame to your optician and ask for a filtered lens — our frames are standard sizes that fit common prescriptions.

How do they fit?

The frames are lightweight acetate or thin metal, adjusted by hand so they sit evenly and lightly on the face. If the fit feels off, the nose pads and arms can be gently adjusted at home or by any optician.

Do I need a different pair for day and night?

Not necessarily — the clear low-tint lens is a good all-day choice. The amber tints filter more of the blue end, which many people prefer for the evening and before bed. It is a matter of comfort and taste.

Are they for people who wear prescription glasses?

The main pairs are non-prescription (no lens power), for people who do not wear glasses otherwise. If you already wear prescription glasses, the clip-on lens fits over them, or you can get your prescription lenses in a filtered version from an optician.

What do these glasses do?

They filter part of the blue light from screens, so a display looks a little warmer and gentler on the eyes during long evening sessions. They are a comfort for screen time, not a medical device and not intended to address any eye condition.
